Scholars are excited about what they are learning in our Enrichment Week! On Monday, students started the day with a campus tour from Assistant Principal Gordon. The students were able to see the awesome facilities that our Sports Medicine Program scholars will be able to utilize. Students learned about illnesses associated with the respiratory system and created a working model of the respiratory system.  On Tuesday, our scholars had the opportunity to explore human body systems using our state-of-the-art virtual reality software. Scholars also began learning how to take vital signs. A special thank you to Dr. Marcell from Southern University’s College of Nursing and Allied Health for speaking with our scholars about the entrance requirements and how to start preparing for college and careers today.  Today our scholars had the opportunity to meet Attorney Chambolyn Terrance and learn about viral transmission and prevention, the legal aspects of practicing medicine, and ensuring patients’ rights are protected and not violated. Students conducted a viral transmission lab that demonstrated how diseases are transmitted within a population and how we can determine the original carrier. The day ended with students learning how to perform CPR on an adult.
