Assistant Principal of Instruction

Mrs. Dionne McCurry is the wife of Mr. Laron McCurry and mother of four beautiful daughters: Kyleigh, Madison, Lauren, and Copper. She is a 20 year educator who has worked tirelessly in the field of youth development, mentoring, and women leadership. She is a 3 time Teacher of the Year, former Student Government Association adviser, and National Council of Teachers in English member. Due to her commitment to equitable education for all children, Mrs. McCurry was chosen to serve on Mayor Sharon Weston-Broome’s Education Transition Committee as co-chair for the High Education subcommittee. She also served as a former board member for The BRYC (Baton Rouge Youth Coalition), an organization devoted to providing collegiate mentoring and financial assistance for high achieving students who have economic disadvantages.

Mrs. McCurry is currently a 4th year doctoral student at Southeastern Louisiana University where her research has been chosen for presentation for its innovative and cutting edge outlook on trends in female leadership by the University of Nebraska at Lincoln’s International Women in Educational Leadership Conference, Louisiana Education Research Association, Mid South Education Research Association, & Hawaii University’s International Conference.
